A truck is a vehicle for carrying goods and materials. The word "truck" possibly derives ultimately from the Greek "trochos", meaning "wheel." In North America, the big wheels of wagons were called trucks. When the gasoline-engine driven trucks came into fashion, these were called "motor trucks."
In Australia and New Zealand a small vehicle with an open back is called a ute (short for "utility vehicle") or a pick-up and the word "truck" is reserved for larger vehicles. Find a Truck to Hire in Brisbane at Andy's Auto Rentals.
Andy's Truck Hire Brisbane - Daihatsu Tipper 2 Tonne
There are four models in the Daihatsu Delta line-up, with nominal payloads of 1.5, 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5 tonnes - with variances according to the weight of the deck fitted by the customer.
The range is powered by four-cylinder in-line diesel engines.
A 2.8-litre 56kW engine is used in the 1.5 and two-tonne payload models. The 3.7-litre engine sourced from Toyota, which powers the three and 3.5-litre payload models, features direct injection and has a power output of 70kW.
Three of the four models are cab/chassis versions, while the fourth has a factory-fitted tipping tray.
The trucks feature wide or standard body configurations, low or conventional chassis heights and single or dual wheels.
The 1.5-tonne payload version has a gross vehicle weight of less than 3.5 tonnes, avoiding the need for the driver to hold a heavy transport licence.
Toyota says it is investigating the expansion of the Delta truck range, with priority being given to adopting variants with larger engines.
