About Brisbane
Queensland's capital, voted Australia's "most livable city", is the City of Brisbane. Based in the South East corner of the Sunshine State, it is not only the 3rd largest City in the country, but also the gateway to the sun, surf and beaches of the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast. Other than Cairns and the Gold Coast it is the arrival port for international visitors arriving by air or sea.
The city is built on the banks of the Brisbane River, which winds approx 15 kilometres out into Moreton Bay. On the Western and Southern bank is the Southbank area. This parkland has a man made pool that even has a lifeguard in summer, bars, restaurants and is surrounded by Art Museums, the Queensland Performing Art Centre and the very large Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.
